History of Rev F.F. Young pastor of First Baptist Church North Indianapolis
Some time ago Willie Moore wrote the history of Rev Young. Years later a group in the church made a poster for a program, and after the program they stopped by her nursing home to give it to her. When I visited her, she asked that I keep for her, as her display area was getting crowded.

40 Anniversary Rosson Cemetery Memorial
May 2006, St Paul Baptist Church
Kenton, Tennessee
The picture above brings back so many memories of all our good times and of all our family members
(many of whom have passed on, but are not forgotten). We sat on that porch and swung on that swing
seat for many, many years. We listened to crickets and felt that humid temperature as we slept. We watched
the children run and play and enjoy the quiet life of a less hurried world than back home. We reminded
them over and over to not cross the street without looking back and forth because it was a highway, not a
regular street!
The 40th Anniversary of the Rosson Cemetery Memorial will be Sunday, May 28, 2006, at St. Paul Baptist
Church, Kenton, Tennessee (Reverend Willie Pounds, Pastor).

Cynthia's dad, Walter V. Johnson, 85 years old, passed Thursday, July 22 after a long bout with cancer. Like many of us, Mr. Johnson was a student athlete in high school excelling in the sport of football in South Bend Indiana. He was a retiree from the Bendix Corporation after some 20 plus years and served his country in the Navy during World War 11. Mr. Johnson was a caring husband and very good provider and man to his family. In the time I knew Mr. Johnson, never did I hear an unkind word from him about anyone he knew.

In March 1942, Life magazine published an article about the newly incorporated Tuskegee Airmen. For 10 cents, readers could buy the issue that included photos of the elder DeBow.
A sign of the times, the article, in part, read: "White instructors of the 99th agree that their Negro charges, by virtue of exceptional eyesight, courage and coordination, will prove crack combat pilots. Upon their performance and promise hang the hope of additional thousands of aspiring Negro fliers throughout the land."
Lt. Col. Charles H. DeBow Jr., a member of the first graduating class of five Tuskegee Airmen. DeBow holds a copy of Life Magazine from March 23, 1942, that has a story about the Tuskegee Airmen. His father flew combat missions during World War II.
Now, a Navy captain and commander of the Port Hueneme Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center, the younger DeBow won't share his story without making clear his father's role in its formation.
The 99th was deployed overseas to fight in the European theater. After 52 missions aboard a P-51 Mustang, Charles DeBow was injured and lost his flight status. When he returned home, and after the war ended, the young lieutenant colonel married and continued his education and eventually worked as a high school teacher and university professor in Indiana.
