The State Historic Cemetery Register was created for the purpose of collecting digital
information about Tennessee cemeteries. An application that meets specific criteria will earn
the cemetery spot on the Register. This special status will serve to increase public awareness,
attract funding, and encourage expanded preservation efforts. Even if a cemetery does not
qualify for addition to the Register, location and other information will be added to the State
Database. Only one successful application will be honored per cemetery. Any future
application will still be accepted but will be used to update cemetery information. The criteria
